Layout and Publishing for Print and Online
Beautiful and accessible publications can make or break your customer experience. Readable and logical patterns mean that your users will have a more successful making experience, which means they are more likely to come back or tell your friends.
This course will walk you through setting up a template for your design publications and teach you the differences between designing for print and online.
Printing our patterns changed the business of The Crochet Project fundamentally. By adding that thread to our business, we have been able to reach a wider range of audiences, including yarn shops, distributors and customers who prefer print to web-based making. We will cover our experience of selling print publications, as well as the technicalities of designing for print.
We will cover:
- The technicalities of layout and design
- Choosing a design software (Indesign or Canva)
- Good Design Practice
- Accessibility principals for print and web-based publications
- Print runs and selling for the print market
- How The Crochet Project uses print
