The name comes from the campsite where the shawl was designed and made, sat around the campfire, chatting with good friends.

Sizes
Wingspan: 175cm/69in
Depth: 33cm/13in
Can be made to any size and adapted for any yarn type.

Materials

  • 2x skeins of Manos del Uruguay, Silk Blend Fino (4ply, 70% wool, 30% silk, 50g, 225m) in Jewel (6881)
  • 3.5 mm (US E) hook.
  • Can be made to any size and adapted for any yarn type.

Tension
17 sts and 13 rows in htr to 10 cm/ 4in using a 3.5mm hook (or size needed to achieve tension)
Tension is not critical to the success of the project but will affect the finished size, drape, and amount of yarn used.

You can use any weight yarn and resize the shawl as desired. It is recommended that you use a yarn with a lot of drape (such as silk, alpaca or bamboo) and match it with a hook, slightly larger than normally recommended to create drape in the fabric.
To use up a special skein divide the skein into two evenly sized balls and continue increasing until the first ball has been used up.

My Go-to pattern

I'm currently making my 10th Northmoor Lock Shawl in less than 18 months! This pattern is simple and beautiful! The simple repeats make it a wonderful project to wind down the day with. I call it my go-to self-care project. It works with different fibre types too! I have made a few cotton ones, a few merino and even some merino cashmere and silk. It's such a pretty pattern with a bobble effect on one edge and a pretty scallop trim on the other. It works well with all kinds of yarn colourways too!
