With the perfect amount of slouch and an interesting but simple stitch pattern, the Kelpie Hat is suitable for adventurous beginners and up. Using just one 100g skein of DK weight yarn, it is quick to make. Variegated yarns can be tricky to crochet with. The simple but effective stitch pattern in this cozy hat draws the yarn across in strands that show off the beautiful dyeing to its full effect.

It's a hit!

After years of offering to crochet her something, my teenager finally asked for a wooly hat and this was the pattern she chose. The pattern was easy to follow and quick to make. The size M fitted perfectly and is now worn on every outing!
